Company Policies

Mortals & the Corporation
When Venture was first founded, many questioned the efficiency of Kindred working directly with mortals. Several valid questions were raised such as "How will we enforce the Masquerade?" However, at Venture Corporation, we believe that mortals are an asset to be leveraged in further standardization of the Masquerade paradigm.

To help facilitate this practice, we have established the following protocols:

  • 1) Kindred who have begun to take on a corpse-like appearance are forbidden to interact directly with mortals: The Kindred condition brings with it many risks, one of the primary risks being the temptation to fall to the Beast. As we draw closer to the Beast, we lose traces of our Humanity, even going so far as to take on characteristics of a corpse. In these cases, we have to restrict those employees to Kindred to Kindred (K2K) opportunities, or have them interact with mortal employees and clients through non-visiual medium.
    Note: This rule does not apply to mortals in the thrall of a vampire.
  • 2) Assume mortal employees do not know about Kindred: Mortal employees are ranked into three tiers (1-3) that correspond to their knowledge of the nature of Venture Corporation. Tier 1 employees are those enthralled to a Kindred master and know that Kindred are employed at Venture. Tier 2 employees are either aware of the occult aspects of our company, but not necessarily that Venture is run by Kindred. Finally, Tier 3 are mundane mortals who only know about the public facing aspects of Venture. Tiers are displayed prominently on Mortal badges. Keep these Tiers in mind when interacting with mortal employees in order to maintain the masquerade.
  • 3) Kindred are restricted to feeding in Designated Blood Zones on Venture Property:Kindred should only visit the breakrooms on the 6th floor. These are designated for Kindred only and have blood coolers. Access is restricted to Kindred employees. There are a few private conference rooms also designated as Blood Zones, and private offices and havens on Venture property are considered Blood Zones.

Destruction of Other Kindred

  • It is forbidden to destroy Kindred employees of Venture Corporation in good standing (this means Corporation Status 1 or Higher). Such an act is punishable by death.
  • The destruction of a Kindred employee who has no Status is frowned upon, but technically no wrong has been committed.
  • The destruction of a Kindred who has been terminated by Venture is both encouraged and rewarded.
  • The destruction of non-Venture Kindred should be taken on a case-by-case basis. If they are deemed a threat to Venture, they should be destroyed. Regardless, the death of a non-Venture Kindred is not a crime.

Red Level Events
The following is a list of policies when dealing with high-risk situations:

  • If you encounter a fellow employee in a state of Frenzy, and have the capability, remove them from Frenzy. If that is not an option, and you have the opportunity, bring the Chief of Security and/or Loss Management in to deal with the Kindred. If that is not an option, and you have the capability, stop the Kindred using whatever force necessary. If that is not a possibility, escape and inform the Chief of Security and Loss Management immediately.
  • If you encounter a terminated employee, either destroy them, or inform employees who can destroy them.
  • If you become aware of a diablerist, they should be immediately reported to H&KR. They are considered terminated however, and so should be destroyed if possible. Proof of their diablerie will be required if you destroy them before alerting H&KR.
  • If you encounter a non-vampiric supernatural phenomena, and you're not a member of OR&S, and the phenomena is a threat, inform OR&S and try to diffuse the situation. If the phenomena is not a threat, document it, and inform OR&S.
  • If you witness any employee violating the policies of Venture, report the incident to H&KR using Form 5-Z12.
  • If you encounter an Evil Robot (AKA Diablo Robotico), or similar technological or scientific creation of (for example) a Mad Scientist, attempt to neutralize any threat and inform R&D.
  • If you believe that a member of Upper Management has had their mind altered, is possessed by a demon, has lost their soul and become the evil version of themselves, or is a threat to the corporation in some manner, dial #666 from any company phone. WARNING! False accusations will result in destruction.

Legal Parameters
Venture's legal department recognizes that there are times when some "illegal" activity is acceptable for a Kindred where it wouldn't be for a mortal. For example, identity theft and the creation of false identities are defense mechanisms for Kindred to protect themselves after decades or even centuries pass without them changing appearance. This is one of the reasons Venture's benefits package includes Identity Reassignment Assistance. However, there are some activities that are never acceptable, either because they are unacceptable, or if discovered would be bad press for Venture. Punishment for such activity ranges from pay docking to demotions to termination depending on the severity of the situation. Those include:

  • Any violations of the Traditions without permission
  • Embezzlement
  • Tax Fraud
  • Dominating a superior
  • Applying the vinculum to a superior
  • Do not speak directly to a Vice President or higher-ranked individual. Speak with them through their representatives, for example the Chief Administrator
  • Anything involving child pornography or pedophilia
  • Frenzying in view of mortals who are not Tier 1
  • Failing to honor a boon

Team Protocols
One problem Teams in general, and Team Leads in particular seem to run into is "How do I get permission and/or funding for X?" Venture offices have typically employed an H&KR Team, Controller, and Project Manager to deal with the high level issues and planning, and staff mortals for the paperwork. To propose a project, you should follow the following procedure:

  • Step 1: Fill out form TH-829. This should include the goal of the project, how it makes the corporation money or saves the corporation money, what non-monetary resources (both animate and inanimate) it requires, and a proposed budget (this should be in Resources Dots).
  • Step 2: If you are not Team Lead, give the proposal to the Team Lead for approval. The Team Lead should then give copies of the form to the Controller and the Project Manager.
  • Step 3: The Project Manager approves or denies the project and the Controller approves or denies funding for the project.

To request a new hire:

  • Team Lead should file form XI-666, position to be filled and requirements of the job.
  • H&KR will review the request and approve/deny.
  • If approved, they will start looking for a new hire that meets the requirements.
Each employee costs Resources 2. Projects + Employees should not exceed the value of the Team, which is determined by the value (either in money made or saved for the corporation) by the projects the Team completes.

Division Head's Policies

  • The Traditions must be upheld
  • Only I can name Elysium
    • All of Venture offices are Elysium
    • The Sanctified Sanctuary is Elysium
    • The US National Arboretum in DC is Elysium
  • Elysium is sacred. Violation of Elysium is as heinous as the violation of any Tradition.
  • A Kindred's Haven is her own. The violation of another's haven is the same as the violation of Elysium
  • The safety of employees is of the utmost importance. We will do everything we can to protect employees in good standing. To that end, I encourage all employees to seek self-defense training, and will be asking Mssr. Graziani to spearhead this endeavor.
  • Violence against other Kindred is only permissible in a sanctioned duel, in self-defense, or at my decree or the decree of the Vice President or higher.
  • Religious intolerance and persecution are impermissible. Kindred Resources will evaluate all cases and bring them to my attention. Punishment will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Midnight to one AM is sacred. No meetings should be scheduled during this hour without my prior permission. If I approve, the cost for a non-religious meeting will be to force the failure of someone counting on luck of my choosing. There is no cost for religious gatherings.
  • Once per year, on the Autumnal Equinox, I will allow employees in good standing to petition me for the right to Embrace. In accordance with the Second Tradition, Embrace will only be permitted in cases where deemed appropriate.
  • In order to hold standing within this Domain, you must present yourself to me to be acknowledged.
  • I ask that you do not feed from practitioners of voodoo. However, I realize one does not always know the religious beliefs of those they feed on. If you are found to have fed on a practitioner of voodoo unknowingly, then the price will be an expensive meal of a type and time of my choosing as an offering to Erzulie, and tobacco and rum as a sign of respect. If you are found to have knowingly fed from one, then the punishment will be severe.
  • The Prisci shall uphold the Law of Grievances. Under this Law, Kindred will have the opportunity to bring any non-corporate concerns or grievances they have, which do not warrant my involvement, to the Prisci for resolution once a month on the night of the full moon. The Prisci will act as advisors to me, and will judge the situation by majority vote. All votes will be compiled into a report, which I will review. Of course, I retain veto power over any decisions the Prisci make. The decisions made under the Law of Grievances will be upheld by the Prisci's Harpy in the same way Boons are upheld. The Prisci are expected to pass any grievances which should be handled by Kindred Resources or myself to the appropriate source to avoid confusion. Examples of matters appropriate to the Law of Grievances include disputes involving Assets, between two clans over Domains, or failing to honor a Boon. The Law does not extend to any matter covered by Venture's policies or my own.
