Domain Actions

Checks
Checks on Domain are the most basic action for a Domain. This action, depending on the level of the Domain merit you have in an area grants very specific benefits.

Roll: Wits + Streetwise or Socialize + Domain Security
No willpower may be used on this roll.
Gangrel flaw does not apply to this roll.

Dramatic Failure: You are given wrong information about your Domain.
Failure: You learn no information.
Success: You gather information about your domain.
Exceptional Success: You gather all of the available information on your Domain this Downtime.

What you learn will be determined by your ST based on what's currently going on in your Domain. That could be as simple as normal activity for the type of environment you have, or it might uncover some zombies running around, or other events that would affect your Domain. How much and what information you learn is dependent on A) how well you roll, and B) what your ST determines is relevant and you are able to find out.

Altering Domain Environment
It's possible to modify the Environment for your Domain and other Domains through the use of this Domain Action.

Roll: Manipulation + Streetwise - Domain Size; if you are acting against another Kindred's Domain, it is contested reflexively with Wits + Streetwise + Domain Security
No willpower may be used on this roll.
Gangrel flaw does not apply to this roll.
Nosferatu flaw does not apply to this roll.

Dramatic Failure: The Domain goes the opposite direction
Failure: Nothing happens
Success: The Environment changes one level in the direction intended.

In order to successfully alter a Domain environment, you must accumulate a number of successes equal to the Domain's Size x 5. If successful, the Environment is improved or declined one level. So, a Bad Environment can be altered to become Neutral, a Neutral can be altered to become Good or Bad, and a Good Environment can be altered to become Neutral.

Domain Benefits
Domain Benefits provide players with certain benefits based on the type of Environment the Domain has. Domain Benefits are split into three groups, Bad, Neutral and Good.

Benefits for a Bad Domain:

Penalties for a Bad Domain:

  • Travel takes twice as long as the transportation in these areas is sub-par (no sidewalks, no passing cabs, no local subway station (or a lousy one), inconsistent buses, bad or broken roads, missing signage and the like.)
  • Socialize rolls suffer a -1 penalty.
  • Police could care less about this area. If you want any investigations done, you will have to do them yourself.

Benefits for a Neutral Domain:
None

Penalties for a Neutral Domain:
None

Benefits for a Good Domain:

  • You know a lot of the most influential people in the area. You can spread one rumor without it being able to be traced back to you.
  • Travel times are halved.
  • You gain a + 1 modifier to Investigation and Socialize rolls while in your Domain.

Penalties for a Good Domain:

  • If gunshots are fired within a Good Domain, then police will be on the scene within 10 minutes.
  • All Stealth rolls within the Domain are at a -1 penalty (areas are well-lit, and secure)
  • If someone is actively trying to find you, they automatically succeed (this does not mean they can find your Haven, but they can ask around and find out where you are. "Oh yeah, I saw Nick down at Legend's." Note, this information is only good for 1 scene. If not acted on immediately, then the information dries up).
